Manifesto
Our short term objective is to educate leaseholders as to the vital importance of taking right to manage where it is possible to do so and in particular explaining the powers granted to rtm companies on acquisation date.
Our short to medium term objective is to ask that where landlords are found to be in criminal breach of the law in their dealings with leaseholders, leases should be extended to 999 years. A judge has already ruled on this issue, but not in the high court.
Our long term objective is to demand that landlords should have to compensate leaseholders for their payment for all maintenance of a premises before he is allowed to repossess at the end of a lease. How much would a premises be worth if it were left to survive for a hundred years on the proceeds of what the landlord pays in maintenance?
We say very little or nothing at all.
If the leaseholders of 100 premises pay £10 per person annually to selcha then experience shows us that we will be able to arrange building insurance for all premises which will save each leaseholder about £100 per year on the building insurance premiums alone.
